Off-road racing fundraiser to bring Christmas to local children

Off-road racing teams Locations Racing and SMT Racing will hold a fundraiser Nov. 8 at Laughlin's Bikinis Sports Bar to benefit local children this Christmas season.

The teams raised $1200 for the Boys and Girls Club of Colorado River and Santa Cops last year at the inaugural fundraiser and aim to double the amount of money raised this year to benefit the same charities.

“The Laughlin and Bullhead City areas have been such huge supporters of off-road racing for years, so we wanted to give back to those communities,” said Locations marketing manager, Danny Fraire. “That's what off-road racers do; we support those that support us.”

Set just before the High Desert Racing Association's Rockin' at the River off-road race Nov. 9 -11, the fundraiser will draw some of the best racers in the sport while raffling prizes from some of the biggest companies in the industry including King Shocks, Toyo Tires, Method Race Wheels and F & L Fuel.

“This event is important to me personally because I know some families in the Laughlin area that are struggling,” said SMT Racing Owner Steve Milligan. “Plus, most racers have the disposable income that allows them to race and more. Combine that with our desire to showcase what we do, and you have a recipe for a great event that benefits this community.”

The fundraiser will kick off outside Bikinis Sports Bar at 4 p.m. when race teams will drive their vehicles from the HDRA race pits to the bar parking lot for display, photographs and autograph signing. Participating teams include HDRA's Class 8 points leader Locations Racing, Class 1 points leader Mitchell Motorsports, SMT Racing, Factory Transmissions and more. The raffle will begin inside the establishment at 6 p.m.
