Laughlin's Got Talent
Name:
Laughlin's Got Talent
Date:
November 14, 2013
Time:
6:00 PM - 8:00 PM PST
Event Description:
In 2012, the annual “Laughlin’s Got Talent” show raised $1,500 and brought in more than 900 food items that helped feed more than 50 families during the holiday season.
“The Laughlin Tourism Commission cares about the community and we are happy to host such an important fund raiser,” said LTC President Jeff Pfeiffer. “It’s a great show for a good cause and one LTC has been committed to for many years.”
LTC is looking to double the contribution this year to offset the costs of feeding those in need through December.
“It is estimated that the Food Bank will need 200 Thanksgiving meals and 200 Christmas meals in order to serve families in need,” said Darryl Dauenhauer, treasurer for the Colorado River Food Bank. “The estimated cost of feeding 200 families for both Thanksgiving and Christmas is approximately $10,000. Any donations and fundraiser support programs during this upcoming holiday season will help ensure families in the area will have holiday meals.”
While resort employees and Tri-state residents sing, dance and perform for a good cause, winners take home prize money, as well.
The first-place winner will receive $500, second place $350 and third $150.
“This has always been an amazing show and something I look forward to every year,” said MJ Smith, LTC executive director. “I can’t wait to see the level of talent we get from the entire community.”
Laughlin’s Got Talent starts at 6 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Tropicana Pavilion. Admission is $5 or four canned food items.
