Founded in 1969 in Flint, Mich., Grand Funk Railroad, also known as “The American Band,” is known for their hard-driving sound, soulful vocals and forceful pop melodies which laid the groundwork for iconic bands such as Foreigner, Journey, Van Halen and Bon Jovi. Over the years, the band has achieved notable success with 19 charted singles, eight Top 40 hits and two #1 singles: “We’re an American Band” and “The Loco-Motion.” With more than 25 million records sold worldwide, the band holds seven gold and 10 platinum certifications. Most recently, “We’re An American Band” and “Some Kind of Wonderful” each went platinum in 2022.
