Southern Nevada Health District COVID-19 Update
MIS-C The Southern Nevada Health District is reporting a total of eight cases of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) in Clark County. All eight cases are reported in children under the age of 14, all of whom tested positive for COVID-19. All eight were hospitalized and have been discharged.
Starting Tuesday, Sept. 8, the Health District’s COVID-19 Dashboard will include the number of confirmed cases of MIS-C reported in Clark County.
MIS-C is rare and is still being studied by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to learn more about it and its impact on children. While there isn’t a known cause, many children with MIS-C had the virus that causes COVID-19 or close contact with someone who did.
Symptoms can include fever, stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea, neck pain, rash, bloodshot eyes, and fatigue. Not all children will have the same symptoms. If symptoms in a child develop, parents should contact a health care provider immediately. Parents should seek emergency care right away if their child is having trouble breathing or experiencing severe chest or stomach pain. MIS-C is a condition where different body parts can become inflamed, including the heart, lungs, kidneys, brain, skin, eyes, or gastrointestinal organs. Treatment includes supportive care for symptoms and various medications to treat the inflammation.
Reports Today, the Health District reported 61,543 cases of COVID-19 in Clark County, an increase of 67 cases since yesterday. Recent increases in case counts can be attributed to a surge in testing in Clark County, which was anticipated. New case rates continue to decrease over the past two weeks.

Testing The Health District continues to offer testing for COVID-19 at its public health centers. Online registration is available for testing at the 280 S. Decatur Blvd. Las Vegas, NV 89107 and the All
Saints Episcopal Church, 4201 W. Washington Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89107. Registration for testing at the Decatur public health center and All Saints is available in English and Spanish at www.snhd.info/get-tested. In addition, the Stop, Swab and Go testing events continue until Friday, Sept. 18.

The Health District continues to remind the public to stay home as much as possible, wear face coverings in public, wash hands frequently, and to stay home if they are sick.
