Commissioners today announced the return of a County grant program for small businesses affected by the ongoing pandemic and related shutdowns.
Round two of the County’s Small Business Stabilization Grant will award local businesses up to $5,000 or $10,000 (the maximum depends upon how many employees the business has) for working capital, which includes general expenditures such as rent, utilities, inventory or payroll.
To qualify for this grant a business must be based in unincorporated Clark County, have a Clark County business license and have 20 or fewer employees. Business owners who unsuccessfully applied for these funds in June are encouraged to apply again as some eligibility provisions have changed. Also, businesses that received funding from a County grant earlier this year may apply for this second round of funding.
Additional information about the grant qualifications is available through the County Community and Economic Development website at www.ClarkCountyNV.gov/EconomicDevelopment. Interested business owners are encouraged to review the information and prepare the required documents as soon as possible. The County will accept grant applications from Sept. 15 through 29.
“Small businesses are critically important for our economy, providing needed services and jobs for thousands of Southern Nevadans,” Commissioner Justin Jones said. “Through this grant program we hope to ease the financial strain on local businesses and keep them open.”
“As our community fights through the pandemic, many people who have never needed help before are finding themselves in dire straits,” Commissioner Michael Naft said. “If your small business needs help, please apply for this assistance. Our community is better off when local businesses are open and successful.”
Earlier this summer, the County distributed over $2 million to more than 500 businesses through small business grant programs aimed at assisting those hurt by the pandemic. Funding for the grant programs comes from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) CARES Act. Commissioners visited rental assistance and protective retrofit grant recipient Kaizen Crossfit gym today to announce the return of the Small Business Stabilization grant.
