LAUGHLIN CHAMBER VOLUNTEERS DONATE $10k TO AREA NON-PROFITS, SCHOOLS
The Volunteers In Partnership work hard all year long in order to give back to our local community each year

LAUGHLIN – Ten Colorado River Region non-profits and schools received sizeable donations from the Laughlin Chamber of Commerce’s Volunteers in Partnership (VIPs) at their Annual Check Presentation Ceremony on January 14th at the Aquarius Casino Resort. These organizations were chosen by the VIPs, who share the proceeds raised from their various endeavors throughout the year where they donate thousands of hours in community service; raising money during local events and accepting tips or other small fees. These amazing people put in over 2,756.25 hours in 2019 alone!

Each organization received $1,000.  They represent youth programs, animal welfare, emergency and crisis services, and education.

One Laughlin school receives VIP funds every year, usually alternating between Bennett Elementary and Laughlin Junior/Senior High.  At least one school on the Arizona side is also selected each year; this year there were two.

“We are proud to give back to our community charities from monies that our VIPs earned throughout the year by working the many events.” Says Judy Critz, who stepped down as President for the last three years while Donna Engelmeier, former Vice President, was sworn in for a two-year term.

During the evening several VIPs were sworn in:
  • President Judy Critz handed over charge to the newly sworn in Donna  Engelmeier; opening the position for Vice President
  • Secretary Judy Taylor, a founding member of the VIPs, handed over charge to the newly sworn in Kris Messer
  • Treasurer Margot Anderson was graciously sworn in for another 2-year term

The position for Vice President remains to be filled.

The VIP program has been of service to our communities since 2005; beginning with just 8 people.  The volunteers have grown rapidly over the years, boosting that number to a whopping 92; continuously working hard to benefit others.
