Commissioners Partner With State and Local Workforce Agencies to Host a Fall Job Fair Virtual Series in October
Job Seekers, Local Employers Encouraged to Pre-Register Online Now

Clark County Commissioners Jim Gibson and Tick Segerblom, the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR), and Workforce Connections’ One-Stop Career Center are hosting a Fall Job Fair Virtual Series on four consecutive Thursdays in October at 3:30 p.m. each day:  Oct. 8, 15, 22, and 29.

Job seekers, as well as local businesses/agencies looking to hire new employees should register online now through Workforce Connections’ One-Stop Career Center at www.nvcareercenter.org/fall2020.   The job fair is free. However, registration is required in order to participate.  Interested attendees also can call (702) 636-2346 for information.

The Fall Job Fair Virtual Series will align with local industries, each presenting available job opportunities on specific days throughout the month of October.  On October 8, employers from the warehouse and logistics industry are scheduled to present their job opportunities.  On October 15, employers that want to hire people to “work from home” will be presenting their open and available jobs.  On October 22, customer service and call center employers are scheduled to present, and finally, on October 29, employers from the healthcare industry will be presenting their available job opportunities.

“We want to welcome employers and job seekers alike to participate in our virtual job fair,” said Commissioner Gibson. “Because of unprecedented times of unemployment in our community combined with our new normal of social distancing, we knew we needed to reimagine our popular job fair and create a virtual environment for job seekers to meet with local employers and learn about available job openings.”

“We understand that many parents are looking for work while their children are learning virtually from home,” said Commissioner Segerblom. “We hope that our virtual job fair, which is scheduled for late afternoons throughout October, will not interfere with their children’s virtual school schedule.”

Job seekers are encouraged to have updated resumes in a Word Document, PDF or another format that can be easily emailed to employers participating in the fair.

“We are proud to partner on this Fall Job Fair Virtual Series to help employers fill open positions while informing job seekers about employment opportunities,” said Jaime Cruz, Workforce Connections executive director.  “During this unprecedented time, we know making connections can be more challenging which is why we are thrilled to help offer this virtual option.”

“The pandemic has hit businesses and workers in Nevada especially hard. It’s important to find innovative and convenient ways to connect businesses with job seekers,” said DETR Director, Elisa Cafferata. “We are happy to join our community partners as we explore new ways to build for our future.”
