BCSD UPDATES FREE SUMMER MEAL PROGRAM TO ONSITE ONLY

BULLHEAD CITY – The Bullhead City School District’s (BCSD) free summer meal program is being adjusted for the remainder of summer school for onsite dining only.   Meals at no charge continue to be available during specific hours through June 16 for all enrolled students, as well as anyone 18 and under.
Children must be present and will be served in school cafeterias.
Following summer school’s conclusion, meals will be available only for those children participating in “Kinder Camp,” a transition program for incoming BCSD kindergartners in July.
Summer meals are being provided at five campuses through June 9, resuming June 13 to June 16.  Those schools are Desert Valley, Diamondback and Sunrise Elementary Schools, Bullhead City Middle School and Fox Creek Junior High School.  Times and locations vary by campus and are listed below.  To-go meals have been discontinued.  Unlike summer meal programs during the COVID-19 pandemic, BCSD does not have drive-through meal pick-ups or neighborhood deliveries this year.
Meals are part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s annual Summer Food Service Program, bipartisan efforts dating back to 1948.  The federally-funded, state-administered program reimburses plan operators (schools and various non-profit agencies) that serve free healthy meals and snacks to children and teens in low-income areas when the regular school year is not in session.  For many students, school meals are their only reliable healthy meals each day.  BCSD participates in the Arizona Department of Education-administered “Seamless Summer Options” program.
Parents with questions may call the BCSD offices during regular business hours.
“Seamless Summer Options” free school meal times for each BCSD campus are:
