BCSD BOARD VACANCY APPLICATIONS DUE MARCH 31

Applications are scheduled to close March 31 for those interested in filling a vacancy on the Bullhead City School District (BCSD) governing board.  The non-partisan term expires December 31, 2024.  The opening was created by the resignation of member Amanda Amann, who has accepted a faculty position within the district.  Her resignation was effective March 10.
BCSD’s school board may recommend its newest member at its April 13 meeting, which is open to the public.  A formal appointment will then be made by Mohave County School Superintendent Mike File.  Under state law, File has the right to accept or reject a board’s recommendation, or unilaterally name his own appointee.
School board members are responsible for setting policies and goals, reviewing and approving budgets, and hiring and evaluating the superintendent.  They do not receive a salary or stipend for monthly meetings, periodic student disciplinary or personnel hearings, or workshops.
According to state law, potential candidates must be registered voters who have lived within the District’s boundaries at least one year.  A full list of statutory qualifications and restrictions is available at https://policy.azsba.org/asba/browse/bullhead/bullhead/BBBA.  Interested candidates who meet the legal requirements should submit letters of interest to the school district offices at 1004 Hancock Road, Building 100, in Bullhead City.  They may also be emailed to bcsdboard@crsk12.org . District boundaries for board eligibility are posted at https://resources.mohave.gov/file/SchoolSuperintendent/SchoolDistrictsWAVE_JTED25x36_2021.pdf .  BCSD boundaries encompass all of Bullhead City and a sizable portion of surrounding unincorporated area north and east of the city.
Board members may choose to interview candidates in open session during the April meeting.  Candidates who wish to answer questions should plan to attend the meeting.  The person selected will take office following File’s formal appointment.
