Positive changes to come!

Laughlin, NV, June 22, 2017- The 30th Annual Community Achievement Awards will take place at the Aquarius Casino Resort on October 7th at 5:00 p.m. inside the Pavilion. The Laughlin Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual black-tie gala each year to honor local citizens, organizations, and businesses in the Colorado River Region. There are 13 categories in which you can nominate.

Honoring Local People, Businesses, and Organizations.

After 30 years, it was apparent to us that we needed to make a few changes and initially, we merged two of the categories. And today, we are introducing the "Youth Wonders Award". This award recognizes a young volunteer, mentor, inventor or entrepreneur, 16 years of age or younger, who is focused on the betterment of the community, dedicated to giving back and is a lobbyist for change. This young person is devoted to community service, donating their time and talents to community events, clubs, social organizations, schools etc. while maintaining a 2.0 GPA or higher. The top young achiever in this category shows extraordinary passion and commitment to the cause(s) they champion.

For many years the Community Achievement Awards was only available to adults and seniors in high school. We are extremely excited to include the children of the Colorado River Region in this amazing event!

There are two gifts we should give our children: One is roots. The other is wings.

It doesn't stop there! This year we decided to up the judging committee from 9 members, to 11. This group of diverse individuals will be the final say for each category. The deadline for nominations is August 1st, 2017. We will not accept any nomination forms past 4:30 p.m. on the first day of August. It is imperative that each nominee is given an ample amount of time to respond with their biographical data form and information for the judges. The information provided by the nominee, as well as the person who nominated them, will give the committee important insight into their achievements. It is important that the nominee elaborate on their personal, professional, and/or community contributions, as well as any other information that will assist the Judging Committee with their decisions.

If any nominee should need assistance filling out the questionnaire, please do not hesitate to contact us; we would be happy to help! Call Michelle at (702)-298-2214 ext. 0
