DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a special Kamer Zucker Abbott Lunch with a Lawyer program with special guest speaker Nevada Labor Commissioner Brett Harris.\n\n\n\nKZA partner Eddie Keller will host an interactive discussion with Commissioner Harris concerning important compliance issues Nevada employers frequently confront related to the statutes enforced by the Office of the Labor Commissioner.\n\n\n\nTopics will include: \n\n employee misclassification/independent contractor status\;\n procedures for the recovery of wage overpayments\, wage deduction authorizations\, daily overtime and application of the 24 consecutive hour workday definition\;\n paid leave requirements and exemptions under Nevada's paid leave law\;\n employers' domestic violence leave obligations\; and\n update on labor and employment issues addressed by the 2023 Nevada Legislature. \n\n About Labor Commissioner Harris\n\nCommissioner Brett Harris grew up in Boulder City\, Nevada. She has a Bachelor's Degree from New York University and Juris Doctor from the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. She served on the Employee Management Relations Board and practiced criminal law in private practice before being appointed as the Nevada Labor Commissioner in September 2022.\n\n\n\nAbout the Office of the Labor Commissioner\n\nThe Office of the Labor Commissioner is the principal wage and hour and labor regulatory agency for the State of Nevada.
